Huge weekend for @risingsunbjj at Grappling Industries in Rahway New Jersey.

We earned a 1st place for the Overall Adult Team rank.

With several of our competitors either injured, competing elsewhere, or not able to compete our crew still came out on top in a beautiful day of technical Jiu Jitsu.

The Kids Overall did not turn out in our favor; however, they all did an excellent job securing several wins throughout the day.

Days like these show the value we provide and the hard training our guys do on a daily basis whether it’s their first or 50th competition.

We would like to give recognition to all of our teammates and families for allowing these athletes to flourish in the sport of Jiu Jitsu.

Thank you to Grappling Industries for a great, smooth-running event that ended according to schedule and facilitated the day in a professional manner.

Monday evening God has blessed me with the ability to award my two son’s Brandon Bigelow & Trentino Melone their Brown Belts…. My son’s both received this after 17 years each in jiu jitsu…. I could have promoted them sooner but in their case of reverse- nepotism I wanted them to gain the respect of my student community…. I needed them not only to compete but become responsible & command a packed room…. Although maybe deemed unfair, this is how I chose to raise my sons @ Rising Sun BJJ…. A good father is the only one that wants their kids to be better than they ever were not just at jiu jitsu but everything that jiu jitsu teaches…. Integrity, honor, responsibility, compassion, leadership, and benevolence…. No one will ever be able to say after 17 years of practice this graduation is underserved… and it’s not over by far as they continue their road to Faixa Preta & beyond… God Bless you boys always 🫶
